Family Law Office Hours
Terms and Conditions
Limited Scope Engagement Terms
Trailhead Law, PLLC, a Washington law firm ("the Firm")
These terms apply to every 50-minute Family Law Office Hours session you book with the Firm. By booking and paying for a session, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not book.
---
1. Family Law Legal Advice Sessions (”Office Hours”)
Office Hours sessions are 50-minute, limited-scope legal consultations for Washington family law matters, held on Zoom. During your session, the Firm will give you legal advice, answer your questions, and, if you ask, help you draft or edit documents during the session. That is the entire engagement.
This is limited-scope representation under Washington Rule of Professional Conduct 1.2(c). By booking, you give your informed consent, in writing, to the limits described in these terms.
2. Each session is its own engagement
You may book more than one session. Each session is a separate engagement under these terms. No work is performed outside of scheduled sessions: the Firm does no work on your behalf between sessions, and there is no ongoing matter file.
3. What is not included
The Firm will not: appear in court for you; file or serve documents; communicate with the other party, their lawyer, or the court; do legal research outside your session; give you advice after your session ends; track your deadlines; or send you reminders.
You remain self-represented (pro se). You are solely responsible for every deadline, filing requirement, court appearance, and procedural step in your case.
4. No ongoing relationship
The attorney-client relationship begins when your session begins and ends when your session ends. The Firm has no duty to monitor your case, follow up with you, or respond to later questions unless you book another session.
5. Documents
Any documents drafted or edited during your session will be emailed to you before the session ends. You are responsible for retaining copies of any documents produced during the session. The Firm may keep records of sessions, including documents produced, but does not maintain individual client files and cannot guarantee documents or records of the session will be available after the session ends.
6. Conflict screening
When you book, you must provide your full legal name and the full legal names of all opposing parties, their attorneys, and any minor children involved. The Firm checks for conflicts before each session. If a conflict is found, your session will be canceled and your fee refunded in full.
7. Fees and payment
The fee is $350 per 50-minute session, payable in full at the time of booking. The fee is a flat fee earned at the time of payment to reserve your session. The fee is not held in the firm's trust account. It is refundable according to the cancellation policy in section 8.
8. Cancellation and refunds
Cancel at least 24 hours before your session for a full refund. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice, and no-shows, are nonrefundable.
9. No guarantees
The Firm makes no promise about the outcome of your matter. Legal advice is based on the facts you provide and the law as it stands at the time of your session.
10. Scope of practice
Advice is limited to Washington family law. The Firm does not advise on other areas of law or the laws of other states.
11. Communication
Sessions are held by Zoom; you will receive a link with your booking confirmation. Any documents prepared during the session will be emailed to the address you provide at booking. No advice is given outside of sessions. Questions sent via email outside of sessions will not be answered.
12. General
These terms are the entire agreement for each session you book. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Washington law governs. Venue is Chelan County.
